There are plenty of different ways to get more followers Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and other social networking platforms. I don’t think we can say there are good ways and bad ways, but there are definitely ways that fit your business and ways that don’t. In this post, I’m going to expose 3 different ways that I think are accessible to everyone. I call them: the passive way, the active way and the paid way.

The Passive Way

The passive way consists of placing links to your Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest pages on your site. This technique also applies to Facebook. Nothing really complicated here… Unless you have been living in a cave for the past few years, you probably already have links to your pages on your site. Simply make sure you place them somewhere your visitors can see, and NOT at the very bottom of your footer. Also, try to take advantage of the widgets these platforms provide. Twitter some buttons, Google+ some badges and Pinterest some buttons and widgets.

The Active Way

The active way consists of following people on Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and other social networking platforms so they follow you back. Some people will automatically follow you back, some others will see you started to follow and might find an interest in following you… I don’t know the exact number but for each platform there is an average number of people who should follow you back. To increase your chances, try to follow people in your industry. For example, if you sell baseball caps, try to follow baseball teams, sporting goods retailers, sportswear brands, etc.

The Paid Way

The paid way consists of buying followers though marketplaces like Fiverr. If you are an artist or a business that could easily suffer from a bad public image, I recommend that you do NOT buy followers. If you have a small business and/or simply want to make you Twitter page look alive, there is no harm in buying a few followers, or at least that’s my opinion. Simply make sure you buy them from a trustworthy reseller. Don’t buy too many at a time though. Start with a few hundreds… Also, do NOT buy Google+ followers. Google is very likely to find out about this…

There are plenty of other ways to get more followers, like posting quality content on your different pages, mentioning them in the emails you send to your subscribers, etc. If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to leave a comment below, and don’t forget to follow me!
